The 2024 Minority Landowner Magazine Rural Farms and Urban Agriculture Conference will be held at the Sheraton Houston Brookhollow Hotel October 6-8, 2024, in Houston, Texas. In the past we’ve held our Farmers and Landowners Conference, and our National Urban Agriculture Conference separately. This year we’re bringing everyone, rural and urban, together under one roof.
Registration includes the Welcome Reception; morning and afternoon refreshment breaks; breakfast meals; luncheon meals; the 18th Anniversary Conference Banquet; two hotel room nights double occupancy; conference material; and access to the Conference Exhibit Hall, all included in your conference registration.
Presentations include a focus on technical and financial assistance programs; urban agriculture grants; farm planning; farm loans; high tunnels; forest management; soil health; building healthy, local food systems; access to land; marketing and selling; carbon markets; and climate change. We’ll also discuss mental health; mentorship programs; wills, estate planning and heirs' property; and a review of trends within the agricultural census data.
Keynote presentations include the Socially Disadvantaged Farmers and Ranchers Policy Research Center; the American Forest Foundation; a research report on Black Farming: Farming in the Midst of Racial Discrimination and COVID-19; USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service; USDA Farm Service Agency; and the USDA Advisory Committee on Minority Farming. And an update on the Discrimination Financial Assistance Program that paid farmers $2.2 billion.
